CAPTAIN'S LOG HOLIDAY routine today after a successful Casino Night yesterday. The attendance has increased every year and last night 169 actually went to the bank for money and played at the tables. Another dozen or so staff operated the Casino and managed to lose a great deal of money to the sharp students. The auction of gifts with winnings from the games was awesome with some walking away very happy and others who squandered huge sums of money. Winning bid on a white envelope containing "Instructions on how to Strip & Wax a deck" was 25000, while white envelope containing a $100 bill went for 33500. It was a fun night, to say the least.....with a table full of snacks provide by the Dining Service Staff. THANKS TO ALL! We are running before an approaching gale which is covering the waters we passed through the past couple of days. Not too much wind across the deck as it is from the stern, behind us. However it is damp, cold rainy, foggy and not conducive to sightseeing as we pass the White Cliffs of Dover. As they say "typical UK weather". Check out our Question and Answer page.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been asked to grant us a permit to take extra persons on board above our vessels certification. To do this we have to have certain lifesaving procedures and equipment on board. Accordingly the numbers we can take are strictly limited. We, of necessity, have limited our guests to 2 persons per upper class student on cruise (immediate family members only) plus official MMA invitees and crew member guests. We can not offer more because we do not have the lifesaving capability. Also this is always a tentative adventure which because of weather, security, operational difficulties etc. may be cancelled up to the last moment. The security issue is becoming a big item in how we offer and execute these excursions, so for those who are planning to attend please be patient with the necessary procedures.
