CAPTAIN'S LOG We are Eastbound South of most of the Azores Islands however we will pass between the Southernmost two this evening about supper time. Very nice day today so lots of outdoor activities. WARNINGS have been issued about the dangers of sunburn....hopefully they will be heeded. I had a message this morning from the Agent in Barcelona and he indicated it was SUNNY there today. Temperatures this time of year should be in the mid 70's during the day and mid 50's at night. Really nice. Should have cell phone coverage from outside the Gibraltar straits all the way to Barcelona and back. Remember if your phone rings at 0100 hours it will be 0700 here so that will be something to look forward to...middle of the night calls from your loved ones here on board! We are still making excellent speed and will continue as long as the weather holds for us. That will hopefully give us some training time in the Barcelona area. We are looking forward to our Friday Holiday Routine here on board. Rumor has it that we will be treated to Marinated Lamb on the Barbecue as one of the featured items. Yummy! We will move our clocks ahead another hour tonight, which will put us 3 hours ahead of East Coast time. The only tough part is the 23 hour days...but we do get the hours back on the way home with 25 hour days. Check out our Question and Answer page.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been asked to grant us a permit to take extra persons on board above our vessels certification. To do this we have to have certain lifesaving procedures and equipment on board. Accordingly the numbers we can take are strictly limited. We, of necessity, have limited our guests to 2 persons per upper class student on cruise (immediate family members only) plus official MMA invitees and crew member guests. We can not offer more because we do not have the lifesaving capability. Also this is always a tentative adventure which because of weather, security, operational difficulties etc. may be cancelled up to the last moment. The security issue is becoming a big item in how we offer and execute these excursions, so for those who are planning to attend please be patient with the necessary procedures.
